Bree Fraser

I am an artist, a painter, an oil painter to be specific. I love to explore colour and line and push the boundaries with how they sit together, the way line can work to create a three dimensional two dimensional image. I often use my deep love of the natural world to be the vehicle for my work and I love expressing the beauty of our native birds, paint, colour and form altogether.
My current work is an exploration of my surrounds and my connection/relationship to it which is a challenge and each a journey of their own.
I live with my family in the Waitākere Ranges and love my gorgeous wee studio nestled amongst the Kāuri in our wild backyard.
I have used painting to hold me in space for most of my adult life, living with depression has been a journey of it’s own, and painting holds me while my mind works through it’s stuff.
I have participated in some group shows over the last few years, won a couple of awards, participated in my first big artshow ‘Auckland Art Show’, I was a finalist in 2023 Emerging Artist Award at Upstairs Gallery and welcomed people in 2022 and again in 2023 with the Waitakere Open Studios.
